A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §33-14-2a, relating to requiring certain disclosures with respect to group life insurance policies.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

            That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §33-14-2a, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 14. GROUP LIFE INSURANCE.

§33-14-2a. Required disclosure.

            Any employee who is a beneficiary of a group life insurance policy issued to an employer under the terms of this article may request that the policy terms and conditions be disclosed. Notwithstanding any other provision of this code, if an employee makes the request in writing, the employer shall provide a copy of the entire group life insurance policy to the employee within ten business days.

            NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to ensure employees can obtain copies of their group life insurance policies.
